The Witch’s Circle returns—this time, we go deeper. This advanced course expands beyond foundational practice into the mysteries of deity, archetype, and embodied ritual.

Together, we will:

• Meet deities and archetypes as living forces—Artemis the Huntress, Freyja the Lover, Hekate the Witch, Kali the Dark Goddess—and embody their powers through story and ritual.
• Deepen elemental magick, balancing Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit through altar work, invocation, and somatic practice.
• Explore ancestral reverence, shadow work, and intuition with guidance from Jungian and archetypal psychology.
• Learn advanced divination—candle magick, tarot, oracle spreads—and craft incense and oil blends for ritual use.
• Experience the Witch’s body as altar, vessel, and divinatory tool through movement, breathwork, and trance.
• Each session blends lecture, ritual, movement, and creative practice, culminating in group ceremonies and mythic storytelling.

Unlock the ancient and transformative power of ritual through witchcraft and modern Pagan practices with scholar and  practitioner Selena Madden, PhD. This six-week course will offer a hands-on exploration of the foundational rituals and magickal practices that have shaped European witchcraft and contemporary Paganism, providing students with the tools and knowledge to begin or deepen their spiritual journey.

Rooted in centuries of tradition, witchcraft and Paganism emphasize a deep connection to the natural world, the elements, and the divine. Rituals are at the heart of these practices, allowing individuals to tap into unseen forces, manifest their desires, and honor the cycles of nature. By engaging with the elements, invoking deities, and adhering to the ethical tenets of witchcraft, practitioners create sacred spaces that serve as portals for personal transformation and magickal empowerment.

Throughout this course, students will gain practical skills in creating and performing rituals, including working with the elements, performing candle magic, and invoking deities. They will explore the core ethical framework of witchcraft, known as the 13 Commandments, and learn how to create their own magickal practices based on personal intention. Each week will cover a different aspect of ritual work: setting sacred space, working with divine forces, understanding the ethical principles that guide witchcraft, and learning essential magickal tools and techniques. Students will also engage in reflective exercises to deepen their understanding and connection to the material. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the confidence and knowledge to perform rituals on their own, creating meaningful and transformative spiritual practices in their daily lives.

This course is ideal for beginners or those looking to strengthen their connection to the craft. Students can expect to gain a solid foundation in witchcraft, empowered with the knowledge to work with elemental forces, deities, and ritual tools. The class will help students understand the history and ethics of the craft, while providing them with practical experience to use in their personal practice. By the end of the course, students will feel confident in their ability to perform rituals and engage with their spiritual path in a meaningful, transformative way.

This class will explore the profound and often haunting question of where we come from — when bloodlines are known, when they are severed, and when they remain shrouded in mystery. Drawing from comparative mythology, archetypal psychology, ritual studies, and embodied practice, this course examines the many layers of ancestry: biological, mythic, adoptive, communal, and place-based.

The instructor was adopted at birth, and brings a deep understanding of what it means to carry a lineage that is both present and unknowable — a story held in the body without the continuity of family memory. This experience shapes the heart of the course’s inquiry: How do we reach for the ancestors when the trail is obscured? How do we cultivate belonging when our history is fragmented, hidden, or incomplete? What does it mean to inherit wounds, gifts, and memories we cannot name?

Over six weeks we will engage with mythic narratives, case studies, and cross-cultural ancestral traditions to illuminate the diverse ways humans understand lineage and kinship. Through conversation, somatic explorations, reflective writing prompts, and simple yet potent ritual practices, students will gain insight to identify their own ancestral layers—blood, chosen, cultural, spiritual, and land-based; learn methods for cultivating relationship with unknown or mysterious ancestors; examine the psychological and mythic dimensions of inherited memory, shadow, and identity; and explore how ritual and embodied practice create continuity where biography falters.

Students will leave the course with a multi-layered understanding of ancestry — including biological, mythic, adoptive, cultural, communal, and land-based lineages —as well as an arsenal of methods for engaging unknown, obscured, or severed ancestral lines. Students will also gain tools for somatic and intuitive ancestral work, learning how the body carries memory, inheritance, and the “felt sense” of lineage. They will also acquire simple ritual frameworks for building or deepening one’s own ancestral practice at home, alongside insight into the psychology of the ancestral shadow, including inherited wounds, ghosts of memory, and patterns that echo across generations.
